Incorporated Overseas Enterprise Co., Ltd. was formed in 1979 with the purpose of selling quality Korean products to the world. It forged a strong relationship with POSCO and became the exclusive exporter of its steel products to Ethiopia, Myanmar and the United States. Products included CRSS, galvanized sheet in coil, steel pipe, welding electrode, wire nails, barbed wire, etc. In 1987 we were awarded the President’s Golden Prize for Export Record for over $300 million USD in sales.
We have continued to expand our business by entering new markets and expanding our product line. We have forged relationships in Russia and Tanzania and have included cold rolled steel sheet in coil, galvanized iron sheet, deformed bar, cement and acrylic yarn. In 2001, Incorporated Overseas Enterprise changed its name to HANA International Inc. to rebrand itself into an international player in trading.
In 2002, HANA International Inc. acquired 65% of Associated Surveyors Corporation (ASC). ASC is licensed by the Korean Government to conduct inspections of goods for quality and quantity at all Korean ports and has affiliate offices in Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East. The acquisition further positioned HANA as an international player. This acquisition complements HANA’s trading activities throughout the world.
HANA has welcomed the democratization of Myanmar and the opening of its borders for investment and trade. HANA has leveraged its long standing relationships in the government and private sector to gain access to one of the most dynamic economies in the foreseeable future. We have partnered with SK Energy, BJ Infra Co., Ltd; Green Growth Committee; Cement Company as well as other prominent Korean companies to explore business opportunities in Myanmar. HANA has also partnered with DK USA and Bow View Co., Ltd in Singapore to expand its global reach. Through these partnerships HANA has additionally expanded into tin mining, sourcing coal to supplying industrial pipes and fittings.
In 2012 HANA expanded its presence in the United States by establishing HANA North America, LLC (HANA NA). HANA NA has forged partnerships with coal mines and suppliers of scrap metal to meet the demands of its customers in the Far East. HANA NA is certified as a minority business entity and shall pursue opportunities through this channel as well.
HANA International is constantly striving to expand its product line and forge strong partnerships with direct sellers of commodities so that it can better serve its buyers with the highest quality commodities at the most competitive prices.
